読売新聞社は第２次安倍内閣の発足を受けて、２６日夜から２７日にかけて緊急全国世論調査（電話方式）を実施した。内閣支持率は６５％で、２００６年９月の第１次内閣発足時の７０％はやや下回ったが、内閣発足直後の調査としては野田内閣と並ぶ歴代５位の高さだった。不支持率は２７％。
　内閣を支持する理由は、「これまでの内閣よりよい」がトップで、「政策に期待できる」が続いた。自民、公明連立政権に代わったことや、景気回復への期待が強いことが高い支持率の要因とみられる。
　閣僚の顔ぶれについては、谷垣法相の起用を「評価する」は５４％だったが、経済運営の司令塔となる麻生副総理・財務相の起用を「評価しない」は４５％で、「評価する」の４３％と拮抗(きっこう)した。
　自民党執行部人事では石破幹事長の留任を「評価する」との回答は７１％に上り、党三役の政調会長と総務会長に女性が起用されたことも６４％が評価している。
　政策面では、安倍内閣が最重要課題の一つに掲げる景気回復を実現できると思う人は４８％で、「そうは思わない」は３９％だった。
