　体の成長を促すインスリンのような内分泌ホルモンは、昆虫などの無脊椎動物からヒトまで広く存在している。細胞膜でインスリンを受け止めるたんぱく質（受容体）と結合し、成長や代謝、生殖などを制御するが、詳しい仕組みは分かっていなかった。糖尿病などの治療に応用されることを期待したいですね。
