ラグビーのテストマッチ第２戦が15日、東京・秩父宮ラグビー場で行われ、日本代表がウェールズ代表に23―８で快勝し、13度目の対戦で初勝利を挙げた。第１戦の雪辱を果たし、欧州６カ国対抗出場チームからは1989年のスコットランド戦以来で２度目の白星となった。
　日本は五郎丸（ヤマハ発動機）の２度のＰＧで６―３とリードして折り返した。後半４分にトライを許したが、８分に連続攻撃からＣＴＢウィング（神戸製鋼）がトライを決めて再逆転した。19分にはフランカー、ブロードハースト（リコー）のトライで突き放し、激しいタックルで反撃を食い止めた。本当に快勝といった感じですね。金星おめでとうございます。
