文部科学省は１日、京都大と九州大で英語による授業を大幅に増やす計画を明らかにした。国立大の改革強化のための補助金（計約１３８億円）の対象の１４事業の中に盛り込んだ。外国人教員を大量に雇用し、国際的に活躍できる学生の育成を進める。
　京大には、主に１～２年生が履修する人文社会・自然科学系の教養教育の授業が計約７００種類あり、現在はこのうち１割弱を計１１人の外国人教員が英語で行っている。今後５年程度で外国人教員計約１００人を海外の大学などからスカウトし、教養の授業の半分程度、専門の授業の１割弱を英語で行う想定だ。京大は「学内にグローバルな環境を作りたい」としている。
　九大も今後５年間で、外国人教員を３０人程度採用し、約３割増やす。現在はほとんど実施していない英語による授業も２５％程度にまで増やす。さらに、１学年約２４００人のうち、５００人程度が語学研修などの海外体験ができるよう経済支援もするという。 英語で授業を進める必要性は何なんでしょうかね。学力の低下が嘆かれている大学生、日本語できちんと教える方がいいように感じるのは私ばかりでしょうかね。
