「日本のロケット開発の父」と呼ばれた糸川英夫博士が晩年を過ごした旧小県郡丸子町（現上田市）生田の糸川邸が、喫茶やギャラリーなどの「じねんや糸川」に改修され、２１日に開店した。この日は博士の命日。博士と親交があった上田市内外の女性５人が店を運営する。文化、芸術の発信の場として、多くの人に利用してほしいと期待している。
　博士は東京都出身。戦後間もなく「ペンシルロケット」と呼ばれる国産ロケットの開発を手掛けた。生田にある信州国際音楽村の建設事業に携わった縁で１９９０年、音楽村近くに居を構えた。
　女性５人は５０～６０歳代で、工芸作家や主婦ら。以前から活用方法を検討してきた。昨年の博士生誕１００周年を機に計画を具体化させ、昨秋から改修を進めた。店名の「じねん」は「自然」の読みで、生前「自然を受け入れて生きて」と話していたという博士の思いを反映させた。
　糸川邸は木造２階建てで延べ約３３０平方メートル。掘りごたつやいろりがある１５畳ほどの居間を約２０席の喫茶スペースに、隣接する１０畳ずつの和室２部屋などをギャラリーにした。メニューはコーヒーとケーキのセット（４００円）の１種類。今後、昼食などのメニューを加える予定だ。
