To the top for the first time China overtook the United Kingdom.

米国の共同研究相手として、中国が英国を抜いて初めてトップになったことが文部科学省の科学技術政策研究所の調査で分かった。全８分野のうち材料科学や工学など５分野で１位だった。中国は論文数で米国に次ぐ２位になっており、科学技術でも存在感を増している。
　米調査会社トムソン・ロイターのデータベースを使い、国際学術誌に載った論文を調べた。米中それぞれの大学や機関に所属する研究者らの共著論文は2009～11年の平均で13.8％を占めた。２位は英国、３位はドイツ、日本は７位。
　中国は10年前の調査の８位から、２年前が４位、１年前は２位と順位を上げた。米国への留学生は他国が伸び悩む中でも増え、帰国後の共同研究が多い。科学技術振興機構の倉沢・中国総合研究交流センター副センター長は「中国は海外人材の帰国促進策をとっており、今後も影響力は増す」と指摘する。世界は米中を中心に動いているといった感じですね。そして、アメリカは軍事力の低下など世界の警察としての役割を果たせない状況になりつつありますから、益々中国の脅威が増大していきそうですね。
