公立はこだて未来大（北海道函館市）の松原教授らは６日、ＳＦ作家の星新一さんが得意とした「ショートショート」と呼ばれるジャンルの小説を、人工知能（ＡＩ）を搭載したコンピューターに制作させる試みを始めると発表した。
 　ショートショートは400字詰め原稿用紙で十数枚程度の短い物語で、星さんの作品は平易な文章や分かりやすい構造が特徴。松原教授は「ＡＩに人間の感性を扱わせたい」として、５年以内に完成させ、ＡＩがつくったと分からないように、ペンネームでコンテストに応募することを目指す。
　松原教授によると、星さんが書いた約千作品をコンピューターで分析し、使われている単語の種類や文章の長さ、句読点の数などの特徴を学習させる。さらにそれぞれの作品の構造も調べ、それらを組み合わせるなどして新たな物語の制作方法を生み出すという。
　アドバイザーとして参加する星さんの次女マリナさんは「父の頭脳を保存し活性化する試みとも言え、まさにＳＦの世界。（完成したら）うれしいのか、悲しいのか、怖いのか、想像がつかない」とするコメントを寄せた。人間の感情を持ったロボットの開発につながっていくのかもしれませんね。
