天皇陛下は、年頭に当たっての感想を宮内庁を通じ１日付で発表された。
「昨年は大雪や大雨、さらに御嶽山の噴火による災害で多くの人命が失われ、家族や住む家をなくした人々の気持ちを察しています。
　また、東日本大震災からは四度目の冬になり、放射能汚染により、かつて住んだ土地に戻れずにいる人々や仮設住宅で厳しい冬を過ごす人々もいまだ多いことも案じられます。昨今の状況を思う時、それぞれの地域で人々が防災に関心を寄せ、地域を守っていくことが、いかに重要かということを感じています。
　本年は終戦から七十年という節目の年に当たります。多くの人々が亡くなった戦争でした。各戦場で亡くなった人々、広島、長崎の原爆、東京を始めとする各都市の爆撃などにより亡くなった人々の数は誠に多いものでした。この機会に、満州事変に始まるこの戦争の歴史を十分に学び、今後の日本のあり方を考えていくことが、今、極めて大切なことだと思っています。
　この一年が、我が国の人々、そして世界の人々にとり、幸せな年となることを心より祈ります。」

　平成２６年末で８１歳となった陛下は、２４年の心臓手術後も体調は安定し、現状の公務を続ける意向を持たれており、宮内庁は行事の組み方を工夫するなど年齢に応じたご公務のあり方を検討するとしている。
　世界は本当に狭くなりました。個人の幸せ以上に日本が世界が幸せになることを祈るばかりですね。
