Manned flight test of the "electric airplane".

Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency is, a manned flight test of the airplane the next generation of "electric airplane" fly by using the electricity, it was found that begin in February in Gifu Prefecture. 宇宙航空研究開発機構が、電気を使って飛ぶ次世代の飛行機「電気飛行機」の有人飛行試験を、２月に岐阜県内で始めることがわかった。　電気飛行機の実用化に向けた本格的な有人飛行試験は、国内で初めてとなる。

　ＪＡＸＡは２００４年から電気飛行機の研究を始め、リチウムイオン電池と電動モーターを動力源に飛行機を推進するシステムを完成させた。モーターの最大出力は６０キロ・ワットで約８２馬力に相当し、小型プロペラ機の燃料エンジンと同程度の推進力という。

　試験飛行は、全長７・３メートルの既存の小型プロペラ機（モーターグライダー）からエンジンと燃料系統を外し、代わりに電動システムを積んだ改造機を使って、２～３月に行う。パイロット１人が乗り、航空自衛隊岐阜基地の上空３００メートルを５分間、最高時速１５０キロ・メートルで飛行する計画だ。改造機は、まだ最長１５分間しか飛べない。近い将来、電気飛行機が大空を舞う姿を見たいですね。夢は実現するでしょうね。
