都は２０１８年をめどに「英語村」を開設し、小中学生や高校生を対象に、国内にいながら英語漬けの生活が体験できるよう、原則、日本語の使用を禁止して外国人講師から実践的な英会話を学んでもらう計画です。
都によりますと、「英語村」を自治体がつくるのは国内では初めてだということで、オリンピックのあとも英語教育の拠点として活用していくことにしています。
