青色発光ダイオード（ＬＥＤ）の開発でノーベル物理学賞を受賞した米カリフォルニア大サンタバーバラ校教授の中村修二さんが６日、母校の徳島大（徳島市）を受賞後初めて訪れた。
　中村さんは、ノーベル賞の賞金の一部の８１７万円を１月末に徳島大に寄付しており、大学で目録の贈呈式があった。中村さんは「研究活動のために自由に使ってください」と、香川学長に目録を手渡した。さらに、在学生に向けて「研究に大切なのはやる気。好きなことを見つけて、やる気を持って勉強してほしい」と語った。
　一方、大学側は、優れた研究実績を残した卒業生に贈る徳島大栄誉賞を中村さんに授与した。何をするにしてもやる気が大事ですね。
