三菱重工業と宇宙航空研究開発機構（ＪＡＸＡジャクサ）は２９日、小惑星探査機「はやぶさ２」を搭載したＨ２Ａロケット２６号機を１２月１日午後１時２２分に、種子島宇宙センター（鹿児島県南種子町）から打ち上げると発表した。
　当初は３０日に打ち上げる予定だったが、雷ができやすい雲が発生することが予想されるため延期していた。１日も、風や雨の可能性はあるが、安全に打ち上げるための基準の範囲内だという。
　打ち上げを担当する三菱重工業は「多くの方の期待を集めるはやぶさ２の旅立ちを飾るため、引き続き緊張感を保ちながら打ち上げに向けて準備を進めたい」とのコメントを出した。
　はやぶさ２は、太陽系や生命の起源に迫る手がかりを得るため、地球と火星の近くを通る小惑星「１９９９ＪＵ３」の内部から岩石を採取し、地球に持ち帰ることを目指す。２０１８年半ばに小惑星に到着し、２０年末の帰還を予定している。夢と希望を乗せた長旅の一歩となる発射が無事行われることを祈るばかりですね。
