宇宙航空研究開発機構（ＪＡＸＡジャクサ）は、昨年１２月に打ち上げられた小惑星探査機「はやぶさ２」が３か月の機能チェック期間を終え、３日から目的地の小惑星「１９９９ＪＵ３」へ向けて本格的な航行に入ったと発表した。
　ＪＡＸＡによると、はやぶさ２は現在、地球から約３６００万キロ・メートル離れて飛んでいる。今月と６月、宇宙を長距離航行できる「イオンエンジン」の連続運転をし、１１～１２月には地球の重力を利用して小惑星へ針路を変える「地球スイングバイ」に挑む。
　これまでにエンジンの試運転や通信機能の点検などをし、すべて正常だという。小惑星への到着は２０１８年６～７月の予定。
