スウェーデンのカロリンスカ研究所は５日、２０１５年のノーベル生理学・医学賞を、大村智・北里大学特別栄誉教授（８０）ら３人に授与すると発表した。
　大村氏の授賞理由は「寄生虫病に対する新しい治療法の発見」。土壌の微生物が作り出す化学物質から抗寄生虫薬「イベルメクチン」を開発し、熱帯病の克服などに貢献。 多くの患者を救った点が高く評価された。
　生理学・医学賞の受賞は、１９８７年の利根川進・米マサチューセッツ工科大学教授、１２年の山中伸弥・京都大学教授に次いで３人目となる。幸先の良い結果になりましたね。まずは、おめでとうございます。
